When we held our week-long fast back in January, I reminded everyone that fasting is NOT dieting. It isn't. By now, if you've been on a normal or partial fast for four days, you'll more than likely havedropped a few pounds. Remember that is NOT why you are doing this. We are abstaining from food in order to focus on God, in order to deepen our commitment to Him. By now, you're probably realizing how much of a role food plays in your life, AND how much our culture focuses on food. Billboards advertise it. Commercials tantalize us with it. People talk about it ALL the time. Remember, "Man does not live by bread (or pizza!) alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God!"
What is God saying to you? Have you been writing it down? I'm not much of a journaler, but journaling is a great way not only to remember what God is saying and doing in your life right now, but also to return to it in the future when times of doubt arise. You can eventually pass it on to others and help them to see how you grew in your faith, and it may be a great help to them.
